Coping with Grief
Grief is a deeply personal experience, and there’s no right or wrong way to go through it. Here are some ways to cope:
- Acknowledge Your Feelings – It’s okay to feel sadness, anger, or numbness. Grief takes time.
- Seek Support – Talk to family, friends, or support groups. Professional counselling can also be helpful.
- Take Care of Yourself – Maintain a routine, eat well, rest, and engage in gentle activities.
- Honour Their Memory – Plant a tree, donate to a cause they loved, or create a memory book.
- Be Patient with Yourself – Grief doesn’t follow a timeline. Healing happens gradually.
If grief feels overwhelming, professional support services such as Lifeline (13 11 14) or Grief Australia can provide guidance.
